Day Eight – Your favorite work in translation

The Cyberiad, by Stanislaw Lem. Erin introduced me to this book, and we continue to encourage others to read it. It's a book of short stories, originally in Polish, that include some of the most clever, most enjoyable, most inventive science fiction I've ever read.

I have, sadly, never heard of this--but now it's on my wishlist. Thanks for the heads up on this collection of short stories. It looks interesting!
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it! It's a bit obscure, but a really intriguing and fun work. Quite a bit of satire and wordplay, worth tracking down. One of the stories is available here: http://english.lem.pl/home/bookshelf/how-the-word-was-saved although there are a few typos in the website version.
